Introduction: The goal of this training program is to bestow upon our technicians skills in robotics and industrial automatism. Candidates are taught about the technological world through an industrial approach. This prepares them for entry in the professional world. They work on process simulation tools such as ROBCAD which prepares them for immediate placement as a designer or systems integrator in automatism production. Participation in the Robotics Cup “E=M6” and in the technical menagerie, through projects, helps candidates develop their skills and ability to work in a group.
Possible Candidats must possess one of the following:
- DUT
Génie Mécanique et Productique, Génie Electrique et Informatique Industrielle
- BTS CPI, MAI, Electrotechnique et électronique
- L2 Sciences ….
Career Paths: This degree leads to careers in engineering design and method departments, in research and development, or in service and production of designers and integrators of production equipment. Jobs are usually:
- Robot Research and Development Technician dealing with robotized and computer oriented systems
- Computer Oriented and Robotized Production Line Installation Technician or Simulation Technicien
- Computer Oriented and Robotized System Maintenance Technician
Tasks:
-
Unit Manager in an engineering or production department who coordinates industrial research and development operations.
- Installation, adjustment, and maintenance of industrial systems.
- Robotic cell conception, simulation and installation projects.
- Simulation of computer oriented and robotized production lines.
- Application or Process Feasibility Studies.
- Design and manufacture of industrial robots equipped with sensors or vision systems.

Work Based Learning Cycle with alternating classroom/in-company time:
UEP Project - first 28 weeks – 10 ECTS Understanding methods, products and how a company works. Subjects offered must guarantee candidates will be able to attend courses at the IUT. UES Professional Situating - 24 weeks – 20 ECTS Candidates become progressively more independent and take on more responsibilities within the company.
University Cycle UEP Project – 150 hours – 10 ECTS Chosen project allows candidates to work in a team to realize a practical project with an industrial theme or one based on technology transfer. UES Work Placement - 12 to 14 weeks – 20 ECTS Work placement as a high level technician with responsibilities.
Means available to candidates:
- One classroom, two project rooms equipped with computers.
- 6 robotics simulation stations with ROBCAD.
- One STAUBLI RX90 industrial robot equipped with force sensors and a vision system.
- One ADEPT One robot and a CRS robot located in the technological menagerie.
- One robot similar to the Stewart platform which is used as an equestrian simulator.
- One platform used to study continuous automation.
- E=M6 Mobile Robots built at the IUT de Cahan since 1998.
- One STRATASYS BST rapid prototyping machine.
Enrolling:
Download an application form at: www.iut-idf.org. Once completed, send it to the I.U.T. de Cachan, Secrétariat de la L.P.P.I., à l’attention de Madame Martine NAUROY (martine.nauroy @ u-psud.fr), 9 Avenue de la Division Leclerc, 94234 CACHAN
Applications should be submitted by the end of April to be considered by the preselection jury. Preselection is followed by an interview, for which a time and date will be determined by the department secretary.
